Brissonniere Fish Prints 1954
Summary of the Introduction, translated from French,
written by Brissonniere's dear friend Doctor Rene
Dieuzeide:
"Between 1952 and 1954, we published, in collaboration
with Dr. Novella and J. Roland in the 'Bulletin
of Experimental Work Station of Aquaculture and
Fishing', a Scientific Catalogue of the Fishes of the
Algerian Coast [on the Mediterranean Sea].
Following me step by step on my long term study of the
Mediterranean fish was Dr. W. Goeau-Brissoniere, a very
dear friend, informed scientist, fisherman at sea and
impenitent artist.
As is apparent in this work
Brissoniere took great care in his watercolor paintings
of each fish that I caught. I sincerely believe that
all those who are interested in things of the sea will
fall in love with the rich beauty and artistic
perfection in these designs.
This Atlas was published by the Care Station of
Aquaculture and Fishing."
Each print is approximately 9 1/2 inches by 12 1/2 inches
with bright, vibrant color on slightly creamy, glossy paper that is generally unblemished. There is no
descriptive text, but a copy of the title on the folio

finished lithographs.
