Trew's Plantae Selecta 1750

These beautiful prints are by Georg Dionysius Ehret for Christoph Jakob Trew's Plantae Selectae, published in 1750 in Nuremberg. Trew was Ehret’s greatest patron & commissioned this fabulous work which was both superbly beautiful & the height of scientific knowledge at the time.

Each print measures approximately 21 ¼ inches by 15 inches and is on very lightly creamy watermarked chain lined paper in excellent condition.  The original hand coloring is very subtle, with beautiful contrasts in the leaves and flowers and the first word of each title is highlighted in gold.
