Begonia Semperflorens STP114 $25
Each print measures approximately 6
inches wide by 9 inches long
We are pleased to offer original chromolithographed
prints from this lovely, scarce work by Edward Step &
William Watson from color plates selected and arranged by
D. Bois of the Natural History Museum of Paris. The
publication was originally issued fortnightly in 13
parts for 3 shillings and 6 pence, not a small sum in
those days. There were a total of 316 prints. We are
fortunate to have the original covers from the time of
publication and will provide a color copy of the
appropriate cover along with the title page.
These prints are a charming window into the popular
flowers of the Victorian era, many of which are still
beloved today. Each print is brilliantly colored and
highlighted with gum arabic, capturing the freshness and
perfection that only a newly opened flower can have. The
prints are superbly decorative in nature & are quite
rare, so they are considered very collectable.
Each print measures approximately 6 inches wide by 9
inches long and is in excellent condition, with the
paper slightly creamy & the colors very vivid. There is
no descriptive text, unless noted. Please inspect the
image carefully, as it is very accurate. All our prints
are original antique prints, at least 100 years old and
guaranteed to be the age stated in the text.
