Noboru Yamataka's nostalgia woodblock prints capture the fast disappearing traditional life and architecture of rural Japan. Graduating in 1945 from Meji University in literature, he worked for 37 years as an editor at Shinchosha, one of the oldest publishing houses in Japan. Largely self-taught, his first solo exhibit was at age 50. He has exhibited at the prestigious CWAJ print show since 1973. His iconic views of a disappearing way of life tug at the heartstrings of those who love this aspect of Japan.
