Antique Prints from Encyclopaedia Londinensis 1796

Egyptian Musical Instruments EL104 $85
Each print measures approximately 8 1/2 inches by 10 1/2 inches.

We are pleased to present a selection of prints from John Wilkes Encyclopaedia Londinensis, or universal dictionary of arts, sciences and literature, published in London between 1796-1828. This was an ambitious and all encompassing work that included many components such as natural history, architecture, maps, etc. The natural history part is rarely found colored, so we are pleased to present a selection of prints, many with original hand coloring. A few of the corals have been professionally colored in England by a specialist in shell, fish & corals. The prints are highly prized as the fish are after Bloch & the birds after Edwards.

The condition of the plates is excellent, with high quality Whatman paper, variously watermarked from 1794 on. The colors are very vibrant & there is almost no foxing as can be seen by the photos. Each print measures approximately 8 1/2 inches by 10 1/2 inches. There is no descriptive text or title page as these prints were bought as a collection of prints. The photos are very accurate, so please review carefully. All our prints are authentic antique prints and guaranteed to be from the date stated. These prints are almost 200 years old.
