Finch, Earl of Winchelsea CO43 $95
Each print measures approximately 6
inches wide by 9 1/2 inches long.
The classic heraldry work The peerage of England:
containing a genealogical and historical account of all
the peers of that kingdom by Arthur Collins was
published in 1768, from which we are offering a
selection of prints. Each single print measures
approximately 6 inches wide by 9 1/2 inches long, on
fine, soft white, high quality chain lined paper. The
condition of the prints is excellent, with little
foxing. They have been beautifully hand colored in
England by one of the few remaining professional
colorists whose specialty is heraldry. The charm of
these prints is in the plethora of mythological &
fanciful creatures depicted. Through these crests of the
blue blooded of England parade a delightful array of
griffons, mermen, sea gods, fork tongued dragons, lions
& unicorns all encircling such mottos of yesteryear as
“honi soit qui mal y pense”. There is no descriptive
text.
