Giovanni Domenico Campiglia
provided these magnificent drawings for Museo
Fiorentino, published from 1731-1766 by Antonio
Francesco Gori & others. These beautiful hand colored
copper engravings depict the treasures of the museums of
Florentine, Italy and deal with subjects from classical
mythology.
Each print is on a heavy chain
lined paper with strong plate marks, measuring
approximately 13 by 18 1/2 inches, with the large
margins not fully shown. There is no foxing or text
offset. They have been recently hand coloured by one of
the last remaining colourists in the United Kingdom
proficient in the technique of painting these superb
depictions. Please inspect the images carefully as they
are quite accurate. These prints are about 240 years
old.
