Britannia Illustrata, Several prospects of the Royal Palaces and Publick buildings of England including views of seats of nobility and gentry with annotations from 1771 consists of 12 originally hand colored copper plate engravings, all shown. Some of the most notable of English landmarks are here-Stonehenge, Lambeth House, Edystone Light House and Blenheim Castle.
Each print measures 10 inches by 15 inches on chain lined paper, with some marginal toning and staining. The image area is approximately 9 3/4 inches by 7 inches. The images are hand colored in the casual 18th century manner and are bright and clean, with marginal paper toning and foxing on some. We have not shown the full margins to all for a larger image size. On the left margin are the orginal binding holes, shown in the image below, which has the full margins.
